Tadasuke Tanaka

Tadasuke Tanaka has made shakuhachi exclusively for the Chikuyusha school in Tokyo for more than thirty years. Chikuyusha is the Kinko school founded by the great-grandfather of the present head, Kawase Junsuke III. (All those green folded shakuhachi scores of Jiuta pieces were written by Kawase Junsuke I). Kawase Junsuke III is regarded as one of the greatest shakuhachi players of our time. The school specializes in the traditional sankyoku and honkyoku of the Kinko lineage and Tadasuke's flutes reflect the demands of players in that lineage.
